Traditionally, the 108s are performed four times each year: on the summer and winter solstice and the spring and fall equinox. But why is 108 so special? In Buddhism, there are 108 delusions of the mind. In Hinduism, there are 108 prayer beads on a mala. In eastern medicine, there are 108 energy points that make up the heart chakra. The distance between the earth and the sun is 108 times the diameter of the sun, and the diameter of the sun is 108 times the diameter of the earth. And heck, in baseball, there are 108 double stitches on the ball! The list goes on and on! Here at Inspiring Actions, we’re just going to do 108 Sun Salutations because, well, we want to feel awesome!
